Library Thing: an exciting new way to learn and share ideas

What is Library Thing?

www.librarything.com is a virtual library created by adding books between groups and/or individuals.  The site has just under half a million members with over four thousands groups.  RCC has set up a public group, which has a catalogue of books under different categories such as ‘Mission and Ministry’, ‘Old Testament’, and ‘New Testament’.  Each book is catalogued with a picture of its cover, publication details and various opportunities are listed to borrow, swap or purchase books.  By purchasing any books through the Amazon website link from this website's homepage, RCC receives a percentage of sales.  Staff members have contributed lists for certain subjects and these recommendations are marked as such, often with a line or two about the practical applications of the book for learning.

How do I join in?
  • Access Library Thing homepage at www.librarything.com
  • Using the horizontal menu across the top of the page, click on ‘Groups’
  • On the right hand side of this new page there is a search box for groups, in this box put Ripon College Cuddesdon and press ‘search’.
  • A list of seventy or so should appear; RCC is at the bottom of the list, click on it.
  • At the moment the way to access the library is to click on ‘group member’ ‘hcameron’. This will take you to the page listing the recommended books etc.
  • Feel free to post recommendations, topics for discussion – most of all join in and have fun!
