Mission and Ministry
Mark joined Cuddesdon in January 2026 from The Queen’s Foundation in Birmingham, where he was Director of Anglican Formation and Tutor in Liturgy and Worship.
He was previously Team Rector of Morley in West Yorkshire, and has also served parishes in Leicester and Chatham. From 1997 to 2002 he was National Education Officer for Transforming Worship (formerly Praxis), a Church of England organisation for liturgical renewal, education and formation. Based at the Institute for Liturgy and Mission at Sarum College, he played a key national role in the preparations for the introduction of Common Worship, and produced training resources which were used in thousands of parishes.
Mark is the author of numerous books on worship and liturgy, including many that have become standard textbooks for ministerial students. Since ordination he has been part of the Group for the Renewal of Worship (GROW), who produce the Grove booklets on liturgy and worship. He is a consultant member of the Church of England Liturgical Commission and a member of the Society for Liturgical Study.
In his spare time, Mark is a keen amateur actor and, since moving to Oxfordshire, is enjoying the opportunity to belong to the Chinnor Players.
