Ordinary Theology Study Day: St Gregory of Nyssa - Humanity & Spirituality

Inspiration from the Eastern Fathers and Western Psychology

A series of Study Days running from 10am to 4pm. Tickets from £25 per day to include lunch and refreshments. No previous knowledge of Church history or theology is assumed (although clergy or readers with some background knowledge will still find much of interest).

Saturday 3rd February: St Gregory of Nyssa - Humanity and Spirituality

Western Christianity has a “glass half empty” view of humanity, but Nyssa (focussing on our image-likeness to God) does not. Using his text the Life of Moses as a guide we’ll dive into Nyssa’s understanding of what it is to be human, the importance of our image-likeness and free will, the choices set before us, our (infinite) journey into God, and the necessity of an ever changing perception of the divine.
