Workshop: Preaching Well as and for People with Learning Differences

4pm on Thursday, 10th March 2022  - online or in-person

Many people in our churches experience learning differences, such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and ADHD. Some people with learning differences find many sermons unhelpful and many clergy with learning differences find the ways they have been taught to prepare sermons don’t work for them. In this workshop we gather scientists researching learning differences and clergy with learning differences for a conversation about how we can do better.

The workshop is part of our Science for Seminaries project, aimed at bringing science into the curriculum of theological colleges. Our scientist guests are John Stein, Professor in the Department of Physiology, Anatomy & Genetics, University of Oxford; Sarah Guest, Programme Leader MA Dyslexia & Dyscalculia, Faculty of Education and Children's Services, University of Chester; and Sarah Ankers, Senior Lecturer in Education and Children’s Services, University of Chester.

The workshop will be held at Ripon College Cuddesdon, Cuddesdon, Near Oxford OX44 9EX. Cost is £20 to include refreshments.
