Gloucester Foundations in Theology, Ministry and Mission

Offered by the Diocese of Gloucester and in partnership with Cuddesdon Gloucester & Hereford, this course is an opportunity to explore your sense of vocation. If you are already involved in some aspect of ministry – perhaps as a Pastoral Assistant or Worship Leader, as a member of an ‘Open the Book’ team, a PCC member or Churchwarden – this course could be what you have been looking for to learn more, deepen your connection with God and learn to live out your vocation with increased confidence.

This is a one year course, with teaching taking place on Thursday evenings from 7 - 10pm across three ten-week terms, meeting at College Green, Cathedral Close, Gloucester. There are also optional Saturday workshops, and information 'formation evenings' usually on a Monday. The majority of learning takes place during the evening sessions through structured study, informal discussion and fellowship.

Fees

For those undertaking the course on the recommendation of their parish priest, generous financial support is available from the Diocese of Gloucester’s Department of Mission and Ministry: in this case, the cost of the course to you is £60 per term. Independent students in other circumstances are charged a termly rate of £250.

For some people, joining the Foundation course may be part of a wider vocational journey, which involves exploring a call to ordained or licenced ministry in the Church of England. If you are beginning to sense a call to such a ministry, please contact the Revd Pauline Godfrey, the Discipleship and Vocations Officer, pgodfrey@glosdioc.org.uk or 01452 835548.

Please note that participation in the Foundations course does not of itself qualify students to exercise a particular ministry in the life of the Church. This remains a matter for local and diocesan discernment and authorisation as appropriate.
