11am on Wednesday, 11 to after lunch on Friday, 13 November 2026
A three-day writing retreat which welcomes participants from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, including those embarking on their writing journey to those with more experience in professional, creative and/or academic writing.
During this retreat you can work on any writing task, such as a book or research proposal, article, chapter, fiction or non-fiction writing project. Pre-retreat information on how to prepare and what to expect will be issued to participants prior to the retreat.
Dr Kathryn Waddington is an experienced coaching psychology practitioner-researcher and scholar and trained writing retreat facilitator. The structure of the retreat is based on that developed by Professor Rowena Murray, where writing sessions are interspersed with goal setting discussions, writing warm-ups, thinking pairs and self-compassion activities. Kathryn will provide material from her book: How to be a Compassionate Academic: Scholarship and Sustainable Development to encourage productive and compassionate writing practices.
