At Cuddesdon, we not only value academic rigour but also the support we provide to students of all academic backgrounds, abilities and differences. We are able to do this very effectively by having a high ratio of expert Cuddesdon-based academic staff who teach, work and live alongside our student community and who have a number of students assigned to each of them as personal tutees to oversee their progress, formation and well-being.
We are also fortunate to have Oxford close by and so are able to draw on the highest calibre of associate tutors who are also leaders in their particular subject field or area of research.
Four new Cuddesdon-based members of the teaching team joined us at the start of this academic year, whose details follow. The Revd Dr Sarah Brush, who has been a Cuddesdon-based tutor for several years, has recently moved to become Director of our Cuddesdon Gloucester and Hereford pathway, based in Gloucester. We expect to be announcing in the very near future the appointment of a colleague to work with her as Ludlow Tutor.
With these appointments we are facing the new academic year fully staffed and with great enthusiasm and confidence to support the formation and learning of students for authorised and lay ministries in all settings in the years ahead.
Dr Oliver Keenan
Oliver was previously the Director of the Aquinas Institute and Fellow in Systematic Theology at Blackfriars Hall in Oxford. He has been a member of the Theology Faculty at the University of Oxford since 2020 and has taught theology in a range of academic and ecclesiastical contexts.
Alongside his academic work, Oliver has held a number of pastoral offices and responsibilities. Most recently he was principal investigator of a two-year Templeton-funded project on ‘Truth, Aquinas, and the Theological Turn in Continental Philosophy‘.
Dr Eleanor McLaughlin
Eleanor joins us as Lecturer in Theology with a focus on doctrine and ethics. She holds theology degrees from the University of Oxford (BA and DPhil) and the University of Geneva (Maîtrise en Théologie).
Ellie has previously run the postgraduate programmes in Theology, Imagination and Culture at Sarum College and co-ordinated the MTh at the Faculty of Theology and Religion at the University of Oxford, and was Lecturer in Theology and Ethics at Regent's Park College.
Revd Buki Fatona
Buki joins us as part-time Lecturer in Christian Ethics and MA Course Director. She is nearing completion of a Doctor of Philosophy in Science and Religion at the University of Oxford. Her teaching experience includes a visiting lectureship at University of Chester, a research fellowship and tutorship at St Augustine’s College of Theology and an associate lectureship at the University of Durham.
Buki was recently ordained at St Paul’s Cathedral in London and is serving a curacy at St Peter de Beauvoir Town in the London Diocese.
Victoria Turner
Victoria is in her final stages of her PhD in World Christianity at the University of Edinburgh, where her thesis research examined how missional theology, impacted by the Global South, influenced the practice of Reformed mission in the UK by focusing on the Iona Community and the Council for World Mission.
Victoria tutored at the University of Edinburgh and the University of Stirling whilst studying for her PhD and is an Associate Fellowship of Advance HE.
